How do I book an appointment?

Booking your spa appointment in Kailua-Kona is easy and convenient. You can:

We recommend reserving in advance to secure your preferred time, but same-day and walk-in appointments are often possible.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes—walk-ins are welcome at our Kailua-Kona day spa when availability allows. For the best selection of times and services, we recommend booking ahead through our secure system.

How far in advance should I book?

Popular times at our Kailua-Kona day spa can fill quickly. We suggest booking as soon as you know your schedule. Same-day appointments are often available, but for the best choice of times, advance booking is recommended. Here’s a quick guide:

  • Groups or specific time requests → book as far in advance as possible; a quick call is best to ensure everything is arranged perfectly.

  • Online booking is open from 90 minutes before up to 3 months ahead

  • If nothing shows online, call or walk in—availability can change quickly

  • Book Online 24/7

What is your cancellation policy?

To respect the time of our therapists and other guests, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel, move, or modify an appointment. Cancellations within this window may be subject to a fee of up to 100% of the service price.

  • No-show / no-call appointments will always be charged in full

  • If a client has not arrived or contacted us within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the appointment will be considered a no-show. We will make every effort to call you first before releasing the time

  • Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, where only a percentage may be due depending on circumstances

  • We send a confirmation request 72 hours before and a reminder 26 hours before, so you’ll always have a chance to adjust your schedule if needed

Thank you for your understanding—these policies help us honor the time of every guest and ensure our therapists’ schedules are respected.

What happens if I arrive late?

Out of respect for the time of other guests and our therapists, appointments will still be charged in full and carried out as booked. Late arrivals typically receive the remaining time so we can keep our schedule flowing smoothly.

  • If you have not arrived or contacted us within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the appointment will be considered a no-show / no-call. We will always attempt to call before releasing the time

  • We may extend sessions slightly when business levels allow, but this is not guaranteed

  • Example: Arriving late to a 90-minute massage means you’ll still be charged for 90 minutes, even if the treatment time is shortened

  • Appointments cannot be shortened to a different length (e.g., changing from 90 to 60 minutes) within the 24-hour cancellation window—rare exceptions may apply

  • If a session begins late due to our scheduling or therapist delay, we will either extend the treatment to include the missed time or, if that is not possible, offer a partial discount at our discretion

We truly value your time and ours—thank you for helping us keep the day running smoothly for all of our guests.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept a variety of convenient payment options at our Kailua-Kona day spa:

  • All major credit and debit cards

  • Cash (USD)

  • Mobile/phone payment options (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.)

  • Gift certificates or gift cards issued directly by Hawai‘i Sanctuary Day Spa

We do not accept personal checks.

⚠️ Insurance & Health Benefits: We do not accept insurance, HSA/FSA, or other health benefit cards at this time.

How does gratuity work for spa services?

Gratuities are never required but always appreciated as a way to thank your therapist for their care. The industry standard is 15–25% of the service price, but you may adjust based on your experience. We kindly prefer gratuity/tips in cash or Venmo for ease and to ensure your therapist receives them directly. If you’d like guidance, our front desk team is happy to assist discreetly.

Can I choose my therapist?

Yes—when booking your spa appointment you may request a preferred therapist online or by text or call. You can also meet our team and read individual bios to learn more about each provider’s background.

All therapists at Hawai‘i Sanctuary are licensed in Hawai‘i and trained in our signature treatment protocols. While the core elements of our massages are consistent, each therapist brings their own unique style, experience, and personality to your session.

Please note: unless specifically requested, therapists may be subject to change on a case-by-case basis.

Rest assured, you’ll always be in the care of a highly skilled therapist!

Are children allowed at the spa?

Our spa environment is designed to be tranquil and restorative, making it best suited for adults. Teen guests age 16 and older may book a massage or facial with guardian consent and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during the appointment. Parents and teens are also welcome to enjoy a session together, such as a couples-style massage. For the comfort of all guests, children under 16 are not permitted in treatment areas.

What are your business hours/hours of operation?

Hawai‘i Sanctuary Day Spa is open 7 days a week by appointment, with flexible hours to accommodate both locals and visitors in Kailua-Kona.

Typical hours of operation:

  • Daily (Mon–Sun): 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

  • Evening sessions may be available upon request

We begin answering the phone at 7:00 AM daily, making it easy to arrange same-day requests when availability allows. Other hours may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis—please reach out in advance to discuss your needs.

Walk-ins are welcome if a therapist is available, but we recommend booking in advance to ensure your preferred time and service.

Can one of us get a facial while the other gets a massage?

Yes—this is possible, though it depends on how you’d like the treatments arranged:

  • A facial and a massage cannot be done in the same room at the same time (an esthetician and a massage therapist work separately in different spaces).

  • If you’d like a shorter Mini Organic Face Treatment as an optional luxury add-on, we can extend the massage session by 15 minutes so both treatments happen at the same time—even in the same room.

  • We also offer a “flip-flop” option: one guest enjoys a massage first while the other has a facial, then you switch. This way, you both receive full treatments within the same timeframe.

Our team will be happy to help you design the perfect pairing for your spa day.

What is a Flip-Flop (Massage and Facial)?

A Flip-Flop is the perfect way for two guests to enjoy both a massage and a facial during the same visit. Here’s how it works:

  • One guest begins with a massage while the other receives a facial

  • Halfway through, you “flip-flop” rooms and switch treatments

  • By the end, both of you will have enjoyed a full massage and a full facial within the same timeframe

It’s a wonderful option for couples, friends, or family who want to share a spa day and experience both treatments together.

Do you have a spa lounge?

Yes—we offer a serene spa lounge where you can unwind before or after your treatments. The lounge is not a private space, but it can be enjoyed when reserving one of our relaxing lounge experiences, such as:

  • Casual Infrared LED Treatments (learn more)

  • Soothing Foot Soaks for individuals or small groups (see details)

These experiences reserve your space in the lounge, based on availability. While there, you can enjoy:

  • Spa snacks (dried fruit, nuts), a variety of teas, and a signature spa elixir

  • Lush furniture, serene ocean views, AC, and soothing music

  • Extra comforts including eye pillows, a small book library, and free Wi-Fi

Couples can even choose specials as components, so each person may select their own treatment style while still sharing the experience together. What if I am allergic to some massage oil ingredients?

Your safety and comfort always come first. At Hawai‘i Sanctuary, we typically use organic coconut oil for its purity and skin-nourishing benefits. If you have a sensitivity or allergy, we are happy to provide safe alternatives.

Options include:

  • Sacred Earth oil upgrade ($) – a hypoallergenic, nut-free option that is unscented and ideal for sensitive skin

  • Aromatherapy blends – carefully prepared using Sacred Earth oil as a base, available when no sensitivities are present

How long are your massage sessions?

At Hawai‘i Sanctuary, your hands-on massage begins right at your scheduled appointment time. That means your verbal intake is completed beforehand, so arriving early ensures you enjoy the full length of your session.

Massage lengths available:

  • 60, 75, 90, and 120 minutes (most popular options and full body massage)

  • 30-minute sessions may be requested by phone and are subject to availability (not full body massage)

Pro tip: You can extend a 60-minute massage in 15-minute add-ons (up to 4x) for a full 120 minutes of continuous treatment. Add-ons must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and are subject to availability—especially when added to an existing massage originally booked without them.

The massage duration, however, is measured from your scheduled appointment time. If you arrive late, your session will still end on time. For details, please see our Arriving Late FAQ.

  • For parties larger than two, we recommend booking by phone call to ensure the best possible scheduling and access to the lounge if desired.

What should I wear for a full body massage?

For a massage to be most effective, it’s best to undress to your comfort level. Most guests choose to remove all clothing, while some prefer to leave undergarments on — either option is completely fine.

  • You will always be professionally draped with a fresh sheet, in accordance with Hawai‘i State Massage Board requirements. Only the area being worked on is ever uncovered.

  • If you’re receiving LomiLomi massage, we recommend minimal clothing for the flowing, full-body strokes.

  • If you prefer to remain partially clothed, your therapist will make adjustments to honor your comfort. However, please note that the overall flow and scope of the massage may be limited, which can impact certain therapeutic goals.

Can I request a specific therapist?

Yes.

When booking your massage, you may request a specific therapist, and we will do our best to accommodate.

  • As part of the booking process, we may ask: “Are you equally comfortable with male and female therapists?”This helps us match you with the best available therapist for your session.

  • In online bookings, the selected or assigned therapist is not guaranteed. If your choice of therapist is intentional and should not be changed, please include that request clearly in the appointment notes.

What should I expect during my first massage?

If this is your first massage at Hawai‘i Sanctuary, welcome — we’ll make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.

  • Arrival & Intake: Arrive a few minutes early to complete your brief intake form and share any health concerns or focus areas with your therapist.

  • Privacy & Draping: You’ll undress to your comfort level in private. During the massage, you will be professionally draped with a sheet at all times in accordance with Hawai‘i State Massage Board requirements.

  • The Massage: Your session will be customized to your needs, whether you’re seeking relaxation, therapeutic work, or a blend of both. Heated towels, jade stones, and other spa touches may be woven in for deeper release.

  • After Your Massage: Your therapist will step out, giving you privacy to re-dress. We recommend drinking water and taking your time as you transition back into your day.
